GetItDone vs Linear
A tool purpose-built for planning and building products with AI agents.
Every statement below links to the source it came from and the date someone last read it. Nothing here is a summary of a review site, and nothing claims one product is better than the other — the two do different things, and this page is about which of those you need.
What Linear publishes
- Linear's MCP server "provides a standardized interface that allows any compatible AI model or agent to access your Linear data". Sourcechecked 2026-09-26
- Setup "uses OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration", and the docs also allow authenticating "with a bearer token or Linear API key". Sourcechecked 2026-09-26
- Linear publishes a separate read-only endpoint "which only ever exposes read tools". Sourcechecked 2026-09-26
- The docs give no tool count; they describe tools "for finding, creating, and updating objects in Linear like issues, projects, and comments". Sourcechecked 2026-09-26
What GetItDone publishes
- The GetItDone MCP server registers 11 tools, each with an explicit required scope, and the full catalog is published on one page. Sourcechecked 2026-09-03
- get_task_video_context returns the visual content of a task — image attachments and video frames — into the assistant’s context, rather than a link the assistant cannot open. Sourcechecked 2026-09-03
What GetItDone does not do
- No Google Calendar sync. The integrations grid lists it as planned; the dated roadmap row says it has not been started and there is no calendar code in the product. Sourcechecked 2026-09-05
- Voice capture is built but gated on a transcription provider being configured, so it is off in production and the app offers typing instead. Screenshot capture ships today. Sourcechecked 2026-09-05
- GetItDone is not listed in the consumer connector directories, so connecting an assistant means pasting the MCP server URL from the setup guide and signing in, rather than picking it from a catalog. Sourcechecked 2026-09-26
The dated roadmap for those is on the changelog.
